NEW YORK STATE DAIRY GOAT BREEDERS ASSOCIATION

ESTABLISHED 1962

NEXT MEETING:

The New York State Dairy Goat Breeders Association Inc. was founded on May 12, 1962 to bring together dairy goat enthusiasts from around the state. Ed Dochniak, past president, organized the meeting at the Hotel Oneida in Oneida, New York with the focus on creating a group dedicated to promoting dairy goats and their products. Over the years, the NYSDGBA has grown, but the purpose is still the same. We are comprised of a group of members who work together to bring shows, programs, events and dairy goat education to not only our members but those in our communities as well.

We encourage the promotion of dairy goats through exhibition and showmanship, public awareness, and education. The NYSDGBA promotes the marketing of quality animals and products as well as the continued improvement of milk production and animal conformation. We have also welcomed the American Dairy Goat Association to New York, hosting most recently the 2022 ADGA Convention in Syracuse, New York. We strive to also offer events and education based on dairy goat health, management, husbandry, the production of milk, cheese, and soap as well as the sharing of recipes that use goat products.

As a club, we offer a bi-monthly newsletter and potluck gatherings held at different locations throughout the state. Our meetings are filled with educational speakers, the planning of future events such as fundraisers, our annual double ring show held in June. The NYSDGBA’s members are also present at the New York State Fair every year and we sponsor one of the rings of the four-ring Super Buck Extravaganza which is held annually in May. Members also enjoy and benefit from the sharing of experiences and ideas of others.
